custom home build
It’s not just a beach house — it’s a hurricane fortified cottage, built to maximize enjoyment of the Folly Beach landscape as well as withstand the worst the ocean can bring. The 672-square-foot residence is constructed with structural insulated panels, a foam-core material that not only makes the home more resistant to high winds and seismic loads, but also adds additional insulation and energy efficiency. There’s also durable exterior batten and trim, which is resistant to termites and features a 50-year warranty. Spray foam insulation under the home and roof deck adds to the energy savings by encapsulating HVAC equipment and duct work. Inside, there’s cork flooring throughout, and the master bath features mosaic cork penny tile and a zero-entry shower. It’s all capped by a standing seam metal roof built to withstand wind loads of over 160 mph–combining elegance and protection, much like West Beach itself.
